At HERstory Initiative, we create a safe, supportive space for women and children navigating challenging seasons of life.
We proudly serve:
- Single Mothers
Income-based (household income of $50,000 or less; proof required)
- Female Veterans
Verification required (LES or DD-214)
- Survivors of Domestic Violence
Referral or verification required
- Children (Ages 5–16)
From single-parent households or those impacted by domestic violence
(Documentation or verification required)
Eligibility
To receive services, participants must:
- Be experiencing financial hardship or a significant life transition
- Meet eligibility requirements through documentation or referral (when applicable)
- Complete an eligibility appointment
- Provide required documentation for review
Some services—especially those related to domestic violence support—require a verified referral prior to participation.
Accepted Documentation
To confirm eligibility, participants may be asked to provide:
- Valid ID
- School records or registration (for children)
- Recent pay stubs
- W-2 form or tax return
- Proof of government assistance (if applicable)
- Official mail showing name and address
- LES or DD-214 (for veterans)
- Referral or documentation from a verified organization
Referral Partners
We collaborate with trusted community partners, including:
- Shelters
- Domestic violence advocates
- Social workers
- Schools
- Veterans Affairs offices
- Established community organizations
What We Provide
Approved participants may receive complimentary hair services up to twice per month (trim included), such as:
- Two (2) braids or flat twists (natural hair)
- Ponytail (natural hair)
- Bun (natural hair)
- Silk press
- Wash and blow dry
- Basic clipper work (no shape-up)
